CHANGES AT HOME

Matt moved to Rex, GA to start his own business and as wonderful as this is for him, we can all imagine the bitter sweet moment for Jeff and Tina. This is the last picture of the family before Matt leaves.
The golden locks are starting to fall out. I am not an expert on hair loss, but I suspect Jeff is going to have a bald head very soon. FYI Jeff, a bald head is like pregnant belly- everyone loves to touch them.

May 25 - Great week

Weekend -- We have completed a great week in the Blount house hold..... Good Test results from the kids in school, good test results from the doctor, Drew's team won the championship (18-0 record) in baseball, and we got my oldest graduated from Salem. The doctors are really encouraged by the way the treatment is going. He did tell me that I probably wouldn't be able to coach football in the fall due to the exposure of the heat. So, I may be a miserable cuss in the fall... I want complain at all as long as I'm healthy...... Thanks for all the prayer...but don't stop now because we're reaching the goalline ...... Keep pushing foward ....."Do Not Fear""...CBlount

May 21 -- Back from Emory

Today... It was a great day if your a Jeff Blount fan, but if your not just don't let me know about it...hahaha... I went to Emory to receive results of the Chemo for the first two cycles. I had a Pet Scan on Monday and we received the results from that test today..... As long as the results were good, we were going to continue with the Chemo treatments. The results are in......... All of the masses are gone with the exception of the mass under my arm, but it has been reduced by 60% in only two treatments.... This has only happened because of the tremendous prayer warriors that I have in my corner.....Thanks again....Keep Praying..... "Do Not Fear"..........CBlount

Coach Blount Siting: Update May 17

Today, it was a very busy day for me. It was as close to my old way of life as possible. I have resumed coaching Drew's team again and I got to watch Megan in her Gymnastic awards. My strength has been very good over the last week. I have a big test on Monday as I journey up to Emory to do a Pet Scan, this will measure the rate of the tumors in my body and will do a scan of my whole body to make sure that the Chemo is working. If the results are good, then I will move onto Chemo-3 on Wednesday. I praying for good results from the test so that I can keep getting stronger everyday.... Thanks for all the prayers and encouragement through the process.... Pray Hard and " Do Not Fear"............CBlount

MONDAY MAY 12th UPDATE- FROM JEFF

Today, I would say is a day of rest. I have not had any complication from my second Chemo treatment. Here's some really good news, I still have my hair on my head. During my first Chemo, I had some problem internally with digestion and nausua. But, this time it has been very natural and I've actually maintained my weight very well. I felt good enough to go and see little Drew at his baseball game on Saturday and his birthday later in the afternoon. Then, on Sunday, we celebrated Mother's day with all of my in-laws and family. So, I think that I'm getting stronger and the doctors are sounding very positive to my treatments. I have a big test called the Pet scan, which measures the disease, next Monday to see how well the chemo is doing.... I do want to thank everyone for their support through this process. It's nice to know that I have so many people supporting me through this process..... Keep praying and "Do Not Fear"............CBlount

JEFF'S SITE HACKED - BRANDI'S UPDATE

Yes, I hacked the blog and Tina's snapfish account (pictures)! Maybe 'hacked' is not the right word considering I have permission to access both. On Saturday, May 10th, Jeff's team played another great team, the Braves (coached by Woody). Despite feeling only about 50%, Jeff was at the game cheering his kids on. If you would have seen him during the game, you wouldn't have even known he wasn't 100% (the only reason I know is because I asked). Following the game, Drew had his 9th birthday party (see picture above).
Now, if you notice in this picture- Drew had a bruise on his chin and the reason for this post. I know this is Jeff's Blog, but there are times that I see things that I feel compelled to share with others and this is one of those times. In the game against the Braves, Drew was playing a deep second when Nolan (lefty) got up to bat. Nolan hit the ball hard right at Drew. Drew played the ball perfectly, but it took a bad bounce, came up on him and hit Drew in the chin. Those of us who were standing on the right field fence, heard the noise it made when it hit him. I think it startled him for a second, but despite being hit, Drew still attempted to field the ball. It was one of those moments that I know any parent would be proud of. After being checked out by Tina and the other coaches, Drew stayed on the field. The next batter hit another hard hit directly at 2nd base. Drew hunkered down, stayed in front of the ball and attempted to make a play. He was amazing on Saturday.

Back to Jeff- look at this hunk! This was Tina and Jeff at Drew's 9th birthday party on Saturday May 10th.

Chemo - 2

Today, it was an eventful day for me.... It was CHEMO-2 day at Emory Hospital. I thought I would be home early, but it turned out to be an eight hour day for us at the Winship Cancer center. I reported at 8AM and finally left the center at 4PM..... It was an exhausting day but not without just cause. The day was for drawing blood work, seeing the doctor, and receiving Chemo. I haven't lost any hair yet, but I know my future will resemble a bowling pin look. Today, did not go without some humor, about half way through the treatment and older fellow of about 50 stood up to go the restroom. He took two steps tripped and went "down like FRazier" and took out a blood pressure machine. Luckly, he was alright and had a good laugh about it..... Doctors had good news and said that we were on the right path.......Keep looking up and "Do Not Fear".....................CBlount

SUNDAY MAY 4, 2008

Today, I'm recovering from a busy day. I ventured off to the real world on Saturday as I attended my baseball teams game that Drew play's on. It was really emotional for me going to the game. This was the first game that I have been able to attend in the last two weeks. We won the big ball game 10-8 and Drew caught a line drive to end the game. Both teams were undefeated entering the game, so it was a very emotional game. The team dedicated the game ball to me and sign.... Do Not Fear.................CBlount

METS 12-0 GO METS, GO!

Jeff made the game, although, I thought he was supposed to stay away from the kids..... hmmm. Mets were victorious over the Reds in an incredible game whereby both teams played their hearts out. As you can see by this picture, Jeff looks great!

UPDATED MAY 2, 2008

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30, 2008 10:06 PM, AKDT
Today, I visited Emory hospital for a visit to give my blood for analyzation to make sure the Chemo is doing its job.... Next week, I will see the doctor, give blood, and go for my 2nd round of Chemo..... The real battle is about to begin for me ...Keep praying... Biggiest problem that I continue to face is Isolation and whether to be in Isolation or to just go out and do as much as I can....... Cblount

MONDAY, APRIL 28, 2008 02:20 PM, EDT
Today, It is getting back into some routine. The doctor doesn't want me to go back to school this year. He would rather that I stay away from kids as much as possible so that I don't compromise my medication with the Chemo. The good thing about Chemo is that it kills the bad cells but it also kills the good cells as well. I have to work hard to keep my white blood cells up so it means a weak immune system.....Keep praying ... I feel your prayers......CBlount
